What happens to what you say

Groundfound helps a group find its common ground. It only works if people say what they actually think, so the short version is this: nobody in your group ever sees your answers — not the person who set up the decision, not anyone else. They see the group's common ground, which is built from everyone's answers together.
The wall, and why it holds
Two separate AI conversations run, and they are kept apart by the app itself rather than by asking them nicely:
- Your interview is private to you. That conversation only ever receives your own messages. It is not given anyone else's.
- The synthesis is what produces the group's result. It is handed a de-identified summary of what each person wants — no names, no raw conversations — and nothing else. It cannot show your words to your group because it was never given them.
Whoever set up the decision has more control than the rest of the group (they can close it, redo it, or delete it) and no more information. Objection notes go to the mediator only. Reactions are shown as counts.
What is stored
- The decision itself — the topic, any facts the organizer marks as settled, the result, and who is in the group by the name they claimed.
- Your conversation with the mediator, and the structured summary made from it (what you want, what you can't do, how much this matters to you).
- An email address if you give one to be told when the result lands, or if an organizer adds one to invite you.
- A phone number only if an organizer types one in to invite you. It is shown only to that organizer, and only so their own phone can open a message to you. Groundfound does not send text messages.
- A browser notification subscription if you switch on nudges.
Card numbers, national ID numbers, passwords and API keys are detected and masked before anything is saved or sent for processing, so they are never stored and never reach the model.
How long it is kept

This runs automatically, every day. It is not a promise someone has to remember to keep.
Deleting things yourself, sooner
- Your own answers: on your private page there is an option to withdraw. It deletes your conversation, your summary and your contact details for that decision. Really deletes — not hidden.
- The whole decision: the organizer can delete it outright, which removes every conversation, summary, result and notification subscription attached to it.

There are no advertising networks, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics scripts on any page. If that ever changes, it changes here first.
What we count
We keep counts of things like "an interview finished" or "a result was revealed", and a coarse label for the kind of decision (for example, dining). The topic text itself is discarded. No answers, no names and no conversation text are ever part of these counts.
Partner links, after a decision
Once a group has settled on something, Groundfound shows a few places you could book or buy it — a reservation site, a map, a ticket seller. Some of those may be partner links that earn Groundfound a commission; where that is true, it is said on the same screen as the link.
- They never affect the pick. The AI that chooses is never told which options would earn anything. The list of places is looked up after the decision is already made, and re-running a decision never consults it.
- Places that pay us nothing are on the list too, alongside the ones that do.
- We send them nothing about you. Tapping a link opens that company's own site, exactly as typing their address would. Your name, your answers and the group's discussion are never sent to them. What they can see is what any website sees when you arrive: that you came from Groundfound.
- What we record is two words. The kind of decision and which partner was tapped, for example restaurant, OpenTable. Not who, not which decision, not what was searched for.
Link previews
When someone shares a group's join link in a chat app, that app fetches a preview card. The card names who is asking and what the decision is about, because that is exactly what the person sharing it is trying to tell you. Nobody's answers appear in a preview, and private links — your own interview page, the organizer's dashboard — get a generic card with no topic on it.
Sign-in, or the lack of it
There are no accounts and no passwords. Your link is your session, which is why it is worth not forwarding your own private link to anyone.
Children
Groundfound is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has used it, write to us and we will delete the decision.
Where this runs
The app and its data are hosted in the United States.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that affects what happens to your answers, the date at the top changes with it.
