Plain English, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. Using Groundfound means agreeing to what is on this page.
What Groundfound is
A group tells Groundfound what it is trying to decide. Each person answers a few private questions. Groundfound pools those answers and suggests the group's common ground, which the group then accepts or doesn't.
What it isn't
The result is a suggestion. It is not a contract, not a vote, and not binding on anyone. Groundfound is not legal, financial, medical or professional advice of any kind. If a decision carries real consequences, treat the suggestion as a starting point and use your own judgement.
It is early software
Groundfound is in beta and is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. It may be unavailable, it may change, and it can get a decision wrong. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from using it — including anything that follows from acting on a suggestion.
Links are your session
There are no accounts. Whoever holds a link can use what that link opens, so:
- Share the group link with the people you want in the decision.
- Keep your own private link to yourself — it opens your interview.
- The organizer's dashboard link controls the decision. Don't post it.
Only add someone else's phone number or email address if you would be comfortable telling them you did. You are responsible for the contact details you enter.
Using it fairly
Don't use Groundfound to harass, threaten, defraud or discriminate against anyone; to make decisions about someone who hasn't agreed to be part of it; to break the law; or to attack, overload or reverse-engineer the service. The mediator can decline to produce a result when input is abusive or out of bounds, and we can remove content or end access for any of the above.
Your content
What you write stays yours. You give us permission to process it to run the service — interviewing you, building the group's result, and showing it back — and nothing beyond that. What is kept and for how long is on the privacy page, which is part of these terms.
Partner links
After a group decides something, Groundfound may show places to book or buy it, and some of those links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links never influence what the group is recommended — the decision is made before any of them are looked up, and the part of the system that decides is never told which options pay. What you buy is a transaction between you and that company, on their terms, and Groundfound is not a party to it and is not responsible for it.
Age
You need to be at least 13 to use Groundfound. If you are under 18, use it with a parent's or guardian's permission.
Cost
Groundfound is free to use today. If paid features are ever introduced, they will be clearly marked as paid before anyone is charged, and what is free today stays usable.
Changes and endings
These terms can change; the date at the top moves when they do, and continuing to use Groundfound means accepting the current version. You can stop at any time, and delete your answers or the whole decision as described on the privacy page.
Law
Groundfound is operated from the United States and these terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
